PARTY DYNAMICS
You can click and hold on a portrait and then drag it up and down to control its position in a formation. This is useful for placing your stronger characters up front and keeping your magic users in the back for ranged attacks and healing. If you have a large party with several magic users in the group you may want to have them equip healing spells and act as support. Be sure to keep the magic users safe and far enough away from the frontlines, but still within casting range for healing.

GAME MECHANICS
Your framerate may be increased by turning down the shadows, decreasing texture depth, switching to bilinear filtering, or turning down the game detail.
You may increase or decrease the game difficulty at any time by going to the options screen, selecting the Game tab, and clicking on Game Difficulty. It may be helpful to turn the difficulty level down if you are having a hard time getting through a particular area. You can then change it back after you have passed the area.
If you're more comfortable using keys to move the camera than the screen edge tracking, you may disable screen edge tracking in the Options section.
Using the control key in combination with numbers and function keys allows you to set up specialty groups and weapon groupings in game. A little set-up time will save a lot more time on the other end.
You can set specialty groups by highlighting the characters you want in a particular group and then hitting CTRL+F1-8. This will set the group. For example if you highlight all your archers, then hit CTRL+F1, next time you want to command just your archers to go to a specific spot, hit F1 to call up the archers group then give the move command. You can set groups on keys F1-F8.
Likewise, you can set weapons groupings on the front end to help save time later. Some think that by hitting the 2 key, it just sets all the characters on the second weapon slot (ranged). But what it actually does is set everyone to the second weapons setup. By default, this is each character on the second weapon slot, BUT IT CAN BE CHANGED. If you want your fighter to use his sword, both archers to use bows and the nature mage to use his second spell slot all at the click of a button, just set each character to use the desired weapon, then hit CTRL+1. The next time you hit the 1 key, they'll go to that setup. If you want everyone to use ranged weapons, except you need the combat mage to throw a fireball, set everyone to ranged, set the mage with his fireball and hit CTRL+2, now you can hit the 1 key for the previous setup, then hit the 2 key for everyone to go to ranged (and the mage throw a fireball). You can do this for the numbers 1-9.

MOUSE TIPS
Use a right-click to attack or target, and use a left-click to move.
You can use the left mouse button to click and hold on a spell slot to drop down a list of all the spells in your spell book. Release the left mouse button when it is hovering over the spell you desire and it will be equipped.
In single player if you left click on a character then you should select them. In Multiplayer if you left click on another characters portrait then you will activate the guard job. If you have a healing spell equipped then while guarding you will automatically heal that character. In Single player if you have a healing spell equipped then you should automatically heal the other members in you party. In either single player or multiplayer right clicking while you have a healing spell selected should cast the spell on that target.
CTRL + left-clicking on store items will automatically purchase them. The same is true for selling items from your inventory or trading items between party members.

ADDITIONAL CONTROLS...
There are additional hotkeys that can be set in the Options. Two such useful hotkeys allow cycling through the spells in a party member's spell book. These can be set with "Cycle Active Spell 1" and "Cycle Active Spell 2".
